Man charged in Oakland shooting that left one dead, one wounded

OAKLAND A man with five prior felony convictions has been charged in a Dimond district shooting early Thursday that left one man dead and another man wounded according to officials and court records Rolls Royce Mitchell of Oakland was charged Friday with murder attempted murder assault with a semi-automatic firearm being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person He is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail pending arraignment Monday He is charged in the fatal shooting of Rickie Campbell and the wounding of another -year-old man Police have noted the two men shot knew each other but have not reported if Mitchell knew them The shooting in which a few rounds were fired happened about a m Thursday outside in the block of MacArthur Boulevard between Midvale and th avenues Campbell died later at a hospital The other wounded man got his own transportation to a hospital His condition was not available The two men shot had been at a club in the area prior to the shooting bureaucrats stated A motive for the shooting has not yet been issued Mitchell fled the scene before police could respond According to court documents he was identified as the alleged shooter through witness statements follow-up search warrants surveillance footage and other evidence He was arrested in Oakland about a m Thursday According to court documents Mitchell has five prior felony convictions in Alameda County between February and and August One conviction was for assault with a deadly weapon and the others were drug-related He was placed on probation for all of them the records say
