Pleasanton man to serve 11-year sentence in Oakland homicide

OAKLAND A Pleasanton man has agreed to serve an -year prison sentence for killing a man in allegedly during an argument over a woman court records show Steven Eubanks pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of -year-old Dwight Burton Prosecutors announced in court filings that Eubanks Burton and several others were involved in the argument before Eubanks shot and killed Burton at around noon on May at the block of th Avenue in Oakland In exchange for Eubanks plea prosecutors dropped a murder charge against him Police arrested Eubanks based on a description of a Lexus he was driving which eyewitnesses identified as belonging to the shooter Eubanks reportedly recounted police the car authentically belonged to a relative Darryon Williams who at the time was facing pending charges of murdering a man in Discovery Bay and then shooting at first responders Williams ended up agreeing to a -year prison term in a plea deal court records show Eubanks is set to be formally sentenced on Monday court records show
